Blogger Sarah shows us how to turn your bedroom into the perfect haven… read more
Your bedroom is definitely the one room in your home where you need to relax after a long day and this can only really be achieved with the right home furnishings. Sarah from Extraordinary Chaos was in desperate need to turn her bedroom into her own peaceful haven so with a little help from Laura Ashley accessories she achieved it, read how she did below…
When we moved into our quirky little country home I had grand plans for our oddly shaped little bedroom. One of the reasons I fell in love with our home was the a framed bedroom, with a balcony overlooking the open countryside.
But soon after moving in we found our home that appeared to be newly renovated, actually needed lots doing. In reflection a huge amount was due to personal taste and the fact that magnolia is just not my colour of choice.
For this reason we had to prioritise and work through the house room by room, it seemed there was always another part of the home that needed our attention, and during the summer months the garden has taken up so much of our precious time.
But finally hoorah with the completion of our bedroom the last bit of magnolia and pine woodwork had been banished from our family home.
It’s so important to create a beautiful room just for you, living in a crazy household of sports mad boys I need somewhere to chill and get away from what seems like a never ending supply of footballs. Somewhere to chill out read a book if only for 10 minutes and luckily for me I have a little outside space too.
I always had this vision of a country inspired bedroom to draw the outside in. Part of the reason it has taken us so long to complete our bedroom is that I just could not find the right bedding, but as I browsed through the gorgeous collection showcased by Laura Ashley I was instantly drawn to the seaside cushion and knew I had to plan my room around that one cushion.
Which in fact was easy to do with Laura Ashley’s stunning range of classically inspired bedding. I finally decided on the beautifully simple Chadwick fine sea spray¬†striped set, with¬†the addition of white sheets. This pretty much set the theme for the rest of the room, a blank canvas of cool refreshing white, complemented by a simple blue bunting. Having a sloping roof we have hardly any wall space for art, the bunting was perfect to add a slight bit of detail to complement the cushion thus extending the beach hut theme.
Being 100% cotton makes the bedding feel so luxurious; This is most definitely an area I feel worth investing in, especially as your bed is the one place you expect to feel calm, comfortable and refreshed after a nights sleep.
And for those lazy Sunday mornings the addition of the cream wooden lap tray ensures I can enjoy that cozy in bed feeling for just a little longer. Why just use such a beautiful space for just sleeping, it’s crazy?
I have to confess to heading off to my little gorgeous little room with my tray laden with snacks and a cup of coffee to read a book and watch the sunset whilst the Christie boys enjoyed the England match recently. And the wonderful thing is, they were that engrossed in the football no one came to find out where I was.
My next plan is to extend the theme out on the balcony, the perfect place for an evening glass of wine.
