Dressing for summer can be tricky as you want to look stylish but keep cool at the same time, particularly when you have to dress a little smarter. Lucky for you, this season we‚Äôve launched our Ascot collection filled with lovely pieces you can wear to the more formal days out you have in your calendar. With her own day out to look smarter for the amazing Antonia from Tinker Tailor Online shows us which dress she will be heading for all season long…
Summer is bright blue skies, being woken up by morning sunlight before the alarm has a chance to chime. Long days, time spent outdoors, fragrant blossoms, colourful picnics, tanned feet and pretty dresses.
I love those early days of summer when you can leave home without a jacket and the sun shines brightly overhead. Those days promise so much in the way of fun, adventure and optimism yet it can be difficult to dress for the summer season as you can no longer hide under the comforting layers. Often clothes will be too clingy, too short or too fussy ‚Äď for me, a simple dress and flats is an easy but effective uniform when the mercury rises.
Floaty boho styles are great but if you want something a bit smarter opt for a shift dress. It’s a classic style that flatters most body types and can easily be transformed to suit pretty much any occasion with the addition or exchange of some carefully chosen accessories.
I have had an emerald green shift in my wardrobe for almost 10 years now. I regularly think of putting it in the bag destined for the charity shop but then it suddenly gets me out of a fix when I don’t know what else to wear. Shift dresses and floral prints may not set pulses racing (although I don’t know why) but trust me, they are worth every penny. ¬†The Garden Floral dress is a beauty worth investing in, it‚Äôs a versatile style that will take you from your nephew’s christening, to lunch with your girlfriends and fair few events in between.
I knew it was the dress for me the moment I laid eyes on it. The bold blooms against the white cotton background have a striking yet delicate effect that encapsulate British summer. There’s also something really fun about wearing florals in the city, I love the juxtaposition of the two, proving that flowers and whimsy are not just for the countryside.
I wore this dress for a brunch date in the centre of London, fancy brunch dates don’t come round too often so it’s nice to dress up and make the most of the occasion. I’m a firm believer in celebrating the little things especially at the weekend, those two days are so precious! Style-wise it hits all the right notes: pretty, flattering and great quality.
Good clothes have the power to make you feel happy and confident. You can take on the world when you feel comfortable in what you are wearing. This dress puts a little spring in my step because it fits well and looks so pretty that I can just be me and get on with the business of enjoying my day.
I would love to hear about the clothes that make you feel good and whether you are a fan of florals and shift dresses. Exchanging ideas is always so much fun, get in touch!
