When the sun does come out (we’re not sure you can call it summer at the moment) it’s important to have an outfit in mind that will work in the warmer weather. The brilliant Kat from Katherine Louise shows us how to look effortlessly fresh and cool in the hotter temperatures with these lovely Laura Ashley pieces…
The quintessential British summer. What comes to mind? Countryside strolls, strawberries and ice cream, picnics in the park, the pub garden – and easy sundresses. Dressing for the warmer months sometimes presents me with a problem – I’m tall, so getting the length can be troublesome. And in England we all know the weather can be temperamental, so that ‘just in case’ cover up is often needed.
If someone says to me – classic summer dresses, I always think of Laura Ashley. I’ve worn Laura Ashley dresses to more events in my adult years than I can name – a Royal garden party at Buckingham Palace, numerous weddings, birthday afternoon teas. Not only are they well cut and fit my shape perfectly, whatever the style – A line, shift or pencil, they come to a length I can’t fault. They’re my go-to – my safety net for summer dressing!
A white sundress is the ultimate summer staple in any woman’s wardrobe – I love the ease and freshness of something so classic and easy to pair with accessories. This beautiful linen dress is so easy to wear – I spent a few hours soaking up the July sun in it this Sunday just gone. And for when the sun begins to set? I teamed it with a denim jacket which hasn’t left my shoulders since I got it. The perfect, soft denim that looks just as great with jeans as it does over sundresses. A simple way to dress down your outfit, and to cover up when the evenings draw in.
There’s nothing I love more than a summer’s day in England, driving around the countryside and stopping off for a glass of lemonade and a pick me up. What’s your favourite thing about summer?
