The lovely Sara and Catherine are here to show us how to picnic in style this summer read more
We’re ignoring these April showers and are focusing on the warmer days where picnics become a weekly thing. We have the gorgeous Sara AND Catherine from Sara and Catherine’s Tales here to show us how picnics should be done!
When I was living in Italy I hardly ever used to do picnics. We would do it once a year for Easter Monday and that was pretty much it. Where I come from we have a proper summer, that means great weather for over 4 months with high temperatures and a few summer storms. That’s probably why I never felt the same need to make the most out of a sunny day as I do here. I feel the pressure of soaking those rare rays of sunshine up.
I have such lovely memories of my Italian summers. Playing in the courtyard with my sister, spending months at the sea with my grandparents, the dim light created but the green shutters. Which we always closed during the warmest hours in order to avoid the rooms getting too warm. I miss those summers immensely but I love London so dearly. I take it as it is: with milky grey skies most of the time.
However, when we do have sun, London turns into a different city. Everyone is out celebrating, Pimms in hand and sandals on, the city is alive as never before and the positive energy is contagious. After what was a very long winter we finally had a few days of glorious weather. Which we definitely made the most of. Catherine loves picnics (which for her means any food consumed on the floor really) so we took our basket, our sun hats and we headed to Hyde Park. We found a gorgeous shady spot under a cherry tree filled with white blossom.
We had a baguette, croissants, strawberries, cheese and sushi: the perfect snacks for a summery afternoon. Of course, when we organise an outing, we love to wear something special and comfortable at the same time. I was so pleased to hear that Laura Ashley had launched her first girlswear collection. It is so dreamy and perfect for little princesses in the making. Catherine is wearing the Yellow Roses Lobby Dress and she is absolutely in love with it. I’m so lucky to have such a girly girl who’s very into dresses and twirling.
The details of the dress are beautiful and the material is high quality despite being very lightweight. Perfect for warmer days. I think yellow really suits her, it’s such a cheerful summery colour and, obviously, I couldn’t miss the occasion to be kind of matching with her. I’ve chosen the Mono Tile Linen Shift Dress which fits like a glove and the lines are fabulous. This is THE dress that you can use for an event. Or if you want to dress down for your school run: it really fits perfectly into my mummy wardrobe.
