The Laura Ashley Modelling Competition
Filmstrip of Laura Ashley Models

Back in November we ran a competition to find four new models for Laura Ashley. Our panel of judges were completely spoilt for choice with the number of entries received and after much consideration were delighted to help kick-start the modelling careers of four incredible winners; Lizzie, Charlotte, Charlie and Emily.

See what happened when we met with the girls and get a sneak peek behind the scenes on their day shooting for our next campaign…

"To be one of the 4 winning girls feels amazing, scary, and wonderful, but most of all, I'm just excited! I was so shocked that I actually did it, to be 18 and to be given such an outstanding opportunity is unbelievable. I couldn't begin to even explain what it has meant to win this competition! My life has turned into a complete whirlwind.

From the moment I heard I'd got into the semi-final, I thought to myself 'this is for me, I really really want this.'  When you want something so badly, and you work so hard for it, it feels bizarre when you actually get it! I couldn't feel more grateful and flattered that I was chosen. The support I received from my family, my boyfriend and my friends (who encouraged me to enter) is what made me believe I could do it! They're all so proud of me; we're all living in a dream at the moment! I love Laura Ashley because it's so classically chic and traditional. The clothes are beautiful and always following fashion in an individual way. You feel as though the clothes you buy will not only last you a lifetime, but will still be on trend throughout it."

"It was absolutely thrilling to be chosen as one of the four winners! There were four rounds in the competition that took place over several months. There were some anxious moments between each round not knowing if I had been successful, at the same time it was also very exciting! To be given the opportunity to represent such a world renowned company was a real honour. I love taking part in the catwalk shows and being able to show off the new collections. The photo-shoots have been a new experience for me; working on location with a great team of creative professionals is really interesting. We work long hours on the photo-shoot days and have to work to strict time deadlines but it's also great fun. I've learnt lots of new skills and I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far. The whole experience is something that I will remember and I know that it will stand me in good stead for the future."

"When I found out that I was one of the winners of the Laura Ashley modelling competition I felt ecstatic and truly honoured. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the assignments that I have undertaken it's been a real adventure so far. From the photo-shoot for the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection to the online photo-shoots to the catwalk shows, it's all been a wonderful experience and everything I hoped it would be.

Each assignment has been exciting, creative and demanding and I've loved rising to the challenge! I feel that Laura Ashley is such a well established and respected company. Their attention to detail and design is second to none, making them renowned for the high quality standards that they have. Laura Ashley portray a sophisticated, luxurious and British image and I'm hugely honoured to be part of such a heritage! It sounds like such a cliché saying that it's a 'dream come true', but it really is! Modelling is my absolute passion and I feel privileged that I'm able to do it for such a prestigious company… I'm a very happy girl!"

"I was online, shopping for wallpaper and spotted the competition. I thought I had nothing to lose so I sent in some photos whilst I mulled over whether to opt for the duck egg or cranberry print wall covering. Obviously, being picked from so many girls is hugely flattering as there was some seriously stiff competition. I have taken a lot away from the experience, most importantly knowing which is my best side!

Hanging out in stunning locations and getting my hair and make-up done day-by-day has been really taxing work but I've pulled through… Seriously though, it has been a fantastic experience for which I'm very grateful and one that I've now developed the taste for. The catwalk has also helped me master the art of changing in 7 seconds - I have a new-found respect for Superman. Laura Ashley is a brand I've grown up with ever since my mum bought me my first Laura Ashley dress when I was five. The company has a great heritage and is very homely in its philosophy and product ranges which appeals to me greatly. Oh, and it holds great competitions…"
